Use headings for structure
Choose Blocks > Heading 2 for main sections and Heading 3 for sub-sections. Readers see these headings in the table of contents next to the note, and search engines use them to understand the page.
Keep one idea per section and give each heading a short, descriptive title, e.g. "Normal stress in an axially loaded bar".
Emphasis
Lists
Bullet list suits assumptions and properties; Numbered list suits procedures (for example the steps of the method of sections). Press Enter twice to leave a list and Indent or Tab for a nested item.
Tables
- Place the cursor on an empty line.
- Click Table and choose the size.
- Type into the cells; use Tab to move to the next cell.
- Open the table menu to add or delete rows and columns, or to merge cells.
Tables are ideal for material properties, unit conversions and comparisons. Keep them narrow so they read well on phones.
| Material | E (GPa) | Yield stress (MPa) |
|---|---|---|
| Structural steel | 200 | 250 |
| Aluminium 6061-T6 | 69 | 275 |
Pasting from other programs
Text pasted from Word or PDF can bring hidden formatting. If a paragraph looks odd, select it and choose Blocks > Paragraph, or check it in Source code.
