An account is free. It lets you save content, vote, comment, send messages, write notes and problems, and collect reputation points.

Signing up

  1. Click Join for Free in the header.
  2. Enter your display name, your e-mail address and a password.
  3. Choose your member id (see below) or leave it empty to get one automatically.
  4. Read the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines, then create your account.
  5. A welcome message from Hub 4 Mech arrives in your Messages.

Your member id

Every member has a public member id such as euler-mohr-4821. It appears in your profile address (/members/your-id) and other members use it to send you messages - instead of your e-mail address.

Allowed
3-30 characters: lower-case letters, digits and single hyphens; starts with a letter.
Not allowed
Upper-case letters, spaces, double hyphens, reserved words and ids that are taken.
Permanent
The member id cannot be changed later.

Choose an id you are happy to keep: it cannot be changed after sign-up.

What others can see

Your name, member id, avatar, short bio, how long you have been a member, your reputation and your published work. Your e-mail address is never shown. Details are in Privacy and safety.

Signing in later

Use Log In in the header. Tick Remember me on your own device to stay signed in for 30 days.
