Messages are private conversations between two members. They are addressed by member id, so nobody needs your e-mail address.

Thanks for the note!
Could you explain step 3?
Sure - it is the moment equilibrium about A.

Sending a message

  1. Click Messages in the header.
  2. Click New message.
  3. Type the member id or the name of the receiver - suggestions appear after two letters. Pick the right member.
  4. Write your message and click Send (or press Ctrl+Enter).

You can also start a conversation with Send message on any member's profile.

Conversations

Conversations are listed on the left, newest first; unread ones are bold with a counter. Messages from Hub 4 Mech (welcome, editor notes, answers to your feedback) cannot be answered.

Deleting

One message
Hover over a message and click the bin next to it.
A whole conversation
Click the bin at the top of the conversation.
Only for you
The other member keeps their copy of the conversation.

Limits and e-mail

  • A message can be up to 4000 characters; you can send up to 20 messages per hour.
  • When a new conversation starts, the receiver can get one e-mail about it (not one per message), depending on their settings.

Your e-mail address is never shown to the people you write to - only your name and member id.
